The "Let's Clean the Sea" campaign, initiated and organized by the National Volunteer Center and VTV24 News Center since 2016, covers 28 coastal provinces and cities. The campaign has attracted a large number of participants, including union members, youth, students, citizens, and both domestic and international organizations and enterprises. It has been highly recognized and appreciated by party committees, authorities, communities, and society. The levels of the Youth Union and the Association have proactively and actively coordinated with local agencies and units to implement campaign activities suitable for each locality.
In 2019, continuing to build on the results achieved, the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee directed the National Volunteer Center to coordinate with other units to implement the campaign from now until August 31. The "Let's Clean the Sea" campaign is identified as one of the key tasks of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2019.
With the theme "Be Kind to the Ocean," the campaign focuses on raising awareness and actions among the public, tourists, and communities about the important role of the sea in human life. It calls on the community to take action to protect the marine environment through practical activities and organizes social welfare activities to encourage fishermen in coastal provinces to continue going out to sea and develop the economy.
Additionally, the campaign sets out several targets, such as establishing 400 regularly maintained beach cleaning points in 28 coastal provinces and cities. The goal is to have 100,000 people (including union members, youth, students, pupils, armed forces, and citizens) participate in the activities of the "Let's Clean the Sea" campaign. It aims to mobilize 50 volunteer clubs, teams, and groups to organize at least one beach cleaning activity in 28 coastal provinces and cities.
The central-level launching ceremony of the "Let's Clean the Sea" campaign will be held at Sa Ky Port, Binh Chau Commune, Ly Son District, Quang Ngai Province, on June 8, 2019, with many rich and practical activities. At the same time, activities to collect waste will also be organized simultaneously in the 28 coastal provinces and cities.
