On February 25th, representatives of the "Prevention, Reduction, and Recycling of Fishing Net Waste in Vietnamese Coastal Areas" project, abbreviated as Net-works, visited and held discussions with the leadership of SIAM Brothers Vietnam Joint Stock Company at the company's headquarters and factory in Long An province. This visit was part of the project's series of activities.
Net-works is a project sponsored by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is implemented in collaboration with partners including Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, the Ministries of Agriculture & Rural Development, Education & Training, and Natural Resources & Environment of Vietnam. SIAM Brothers Vietnam is honored to be one of the two businesses partnering in this project.
The goal of the Net-works project is to address the issue of discarded fishing nets in Vietnam's coastal areas, aiming to reduce the number of unused, lost, or discarded fishing nets. This effort intends to raise awareness and minimize the loss of fishing equipment for businesses and fishermen in various provinces and cities in Vietnam. Additionally, the project aims to reduce environmental impact and create a market for recycled raw materials from these products, thereby establishing a closed-loop value chain.
As part of the project's activities, SIAM Brothers Vietnam also made a presentation during the kick-off meeting held at Nha Trang University from February 26th to March 2nd, 2023.
